The Town of Highland Beach is an oceanside community located along Florida's state road A1A. Highland Beach is home to 4,200 year long residents in the winter months, but not a single traffic light. As an inlet town between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, Highland Beach is south of Delray Beach and just north of Boca Raton.
The roughly three mile stretch of beach in the Town of Highland Beach provides residents with a place to relax and recreate. The beaches also serve as critical nesting grounds for endangered sea turtles. From March 1 through October 31 each year, the turtles come to our shores and lay thousands of eggs in nests all along the beaches. Weeks later, the hatchlings burst from the sand and make their way to the sea.
Highland Beach is predominately comprised of retired persons, but during the winter months those balmy breezes off the Atlantic bring vacationers to their sandy beaches. Many celebrities have also been enticed to purchase homes and enjoy the Florida lifestyle since the town's incorporation.
